Re: [-empyre-] Documenta?

dear -empyreans all,

One more thought, though, in response to Michele's observations... I don't quite see exactly how this relates to "Bare LIfe," but maybe it does a little with regard to speech issues. So ok:

This
structure articulates an inside and outside where
listserv participants seemingly engage and talk about
the empowered center but no one from the Documenta
structure answers.

THis conversation hasn't been about the empowered center, I guess you mean, Documenta's management. Even so, those from that management center don't contribute to our list, just like they don't to the other magazines involved. It's really not interactive in that way, structurally, that's true. Personally, I have the impression, that Documenta is much more interested in what we have to say, than imposing comment from their curatorial team. It's our voices they want to share with the world. It's a venue for that, in my opinion.
It creates even more press coverage
and engagement with Documenta and centers the event
but what does it do for the listserv?

It's nice for us, because our content will be archived with Documenta online and maybe in print. This seems like a good thing to me as an artist interested in generating and preserving discourse about pressing issues related to digital media and global culture.
How do we keep
any control over our voice or write into the structure
that Documenta produces?

Well, we can't write into the magazine structure that they ultimately publish, and neither can I or anyone at -empyre-, nor any of the other magazines involved. There will be three magazines published as summaries in 2007 but I don't know what of our content will be included in the print versions. There will be a complete online dossier in pdf. though.

As far as control over our own voice is concerned, -empyre- 's content will become a pdf document. Please do email me offlist with concerns about specifics related to your posts.

thanks for asking,

christina

dear -empyreans- , Michele, and Ana,

Thanks for asking about these structural and communications issues.

Please see below the latest press release from the Documenta Magazine Project.

The questions posed, though reasonable and deserving of response and discussion, are off the topic of "Bare Life." Off topic posts are mentioned under our guidelines description at http://subtle.net/ empyre.

I am happy to discuss editorial issues offlist and welcome any queries that you may have. Please note that the magazine contact details are at the bottom of the post.

The moderating team joins me in expressing sincere thanks to everyone for keeping our list conversation so active and engaged.

Christina
